COUPLES THERAPY

Relationships can be hard, as loving can be overwhelming. Over time couples can drift apart. Conflict increases with life transitions, stress, and birth of new children. Passion for your partner’s presence and intimacy may change. Perhaps right now, it's one of those times. It may feel like, life is being wasted on being unhappy.

Stuck in negative cycles and feeling hopeless,

  • You fight about the same things all the time with your partner.

  • You are struggling to juggle kids, work and your relationship.

  • You feel dread, and anxiety when you are about to have difficult conversations with your partner.

  • You've noticed that the spark in your relationship is fading.

Most people who start Couples Therapy or Marriage Counselling feel unsatisfied with their relationship. They just want to escape their lives, they want more out of their relationships. Can you can relate?

That’s where we come in.

At Life Collective Counselling when you and your partner start couples counselling you’re met by a compassionate, and non-judgmental counsellor.

Great relationships don't just happen. Great relationships are born from intentionality

It’s possible to feel better, and we would like to be there for you when that happens.

Imagine a life where you could...

  • Feel more free and safe in your marriage.

  • Have the intimacy you want with your partner.

  • Get to the root of problems and solve those instead of using band-aids.

  • Have the loving relationship you've always wanted.

Even couples with “normal” levels of conflict may benefit from the Couples Therapy. Our therapists aim to help couples build stronger relationships overall and healthier ways to cope with issues as they arise in the future.

Some of the relationship issues that may be addressed in couples counselling include:

  • Frequent conflict and arguments

  • Healing emotional distance for couples on the verge of separation

  • Specific problems such as infidelity, money, and parenting

  • Communication difficulties

  • Sexual concerns

We use Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) methods to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of being stuck; and create a deep sense of understanding between partners.

  • Gottman Method is a couples therapy model that can help change couple interaction pattens, helping couples rekindle their passion and fall in love all over again. For 30 years Dr. Gottman studied and analyzed the habits of couples that had difficult relationships and couples that had exceptional relationships. And through his research he discovered some insights that help couples with new and startling strategies for making their relationships work.

  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) has emerged as one of the leading therapeutic models for couples therapy. It is best known as a cutting edge, tested and proven couple intervention that has been researched for over 30 years. The EFT model prioritizes emotion and emotional regulation as the key organizing agents in individual experience and key relationship interactions.

INTENSIVE COUPLES COUNSELLING

Intensive Couples Counselling is a dynamic alternative to traditional weekly sessions in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. It’s a condensed and focused approach to marriage counselling that will provide you with the time you need to address specific issues and get your relationship back on track.

In a therapy intensive, we meet for two to four hours a day for two consecutive days in the office. This intensive structure allows couples who are in the midst of a considerable shift, or extremely busy, to make positive changes in their relationships.
